Your Will is our future

Thank you for considering a Gift-in-Will to The ÐÔÊӽ紫ý School. We are deeply grateful for gifts of any size. Every gift is important, and there is no minimum amount for a bequest.

The ÐÔÊӽ紫ý School was established with funds raised by prominent members of the Hobart Town community in memory of The Venerable William ÐÔÊӽ紫ý, the first Archdeacon of Van Diemen’s Land. Since then, our community has continued that tradition by honouring what ÐÔÊӽ紫ý means to them, their families and their loved ones through bequests. Many facilities at the School would not exist without generous past community support.

The 1846 Society

The 1846 Society has been established to acknowledge and honour those who have confirmed their intention to include The ÐÔÊӽ紫ý School in their Will. These gifts help shape the School to become a leading educational institution for boys, and encourages further members of the ÐÔÊӽ紫ý family to do the same.

Members receive an exclusive 1846 Society pin as well as invitations to ÐÔÊӽ紫ý special events, including the annual 1846 Society Lunch. Membership also includes subscriptions to our Magenta and Black and Virtus magazines.

Letting us know if you have confirmed a Gift-in-Will is important. By informing ÐÔÊӽ紫ý of your intention to leave a bequest we can acknowledge and thank you in your lifetime. It also allows us to ensure that your wishes are carried out.

What I learnt at school has enabled me to appreciate things as I’ve got older. That’s why I care about its future – I want to give to make a difference to the boys.

ÐÔÊӽ紫ý’ values have helped shape everything we do. Now is the time for gratitude and to give something back.

I was pleased to leave a bequest for ÐÔÊӽ紫ý in my Will, to be applied to a sports-related award in memory of my late father, Harry. He was an accomplished footballer and cricketer both at school and afterwards, and a very hard worker. Both he and I obtained great starts at ÐÔÊӽ紫ý which served us for the rest of our working lives.

In addition to providing me with countless opportunities to excel in my academic pursuits, my years at ÐÔÊӽ紫ý exposed me to unique and remarkable experiences outside the classroom, challenges which have shaped who I am today.

I owe a lot to the school it the way I’ve lived my life. In addition to my parents, my education at ÐÔÊӽ紫ý made me what I am. So, when I made my Will, after thinking about my family, I thought of other organisations I wanted to consider – and naturally The ÐÔÊӽ紫ý School was forefront in my mind.
